Benin- Former APC national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has reacted to the cold reception accorded him and his entourage during the APC’s campaign tour of Jattu, saying he won his election to become the governor of the state comfortably without any form of support from his clan head, the Ogieneni of Uzairue, HRH Kadiri Omogbai
A peeved Comrade Oshiomhole, a two term governor of Edo State, vented his anger and frustration at the treatment meted out to him with tactical support from the paramount ruler of Uzairue, during a recent visit to Jattu for an APC rally.
Comrade Oshiomole hails from Iyamho, one of the communities which makes up Uzairue clan
As the arrowhead of the Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu governorship campaign, Comrade Oshiomhole, have embarked on a massive campaign tour of Edo North district, selling the candidacy of the party’s governorship candidate and his running mate to the people.
A visibly angry Oshiomole, unable to hide his feelings about the perceived tacit support the state’s deputy governor seems to be receiving from the Ogieneni and blamed him for trying to tear a united kingdom apart as a result of his partisanship.
He claimed he has done more for jattu than any other person reeling out of litany of projects which includes but not limited to two lanes carriage road with street lights, empowerments and others.
comrade Oshiomhole went on to declare that the APC does not require royal support to win the September guber poll, stressing the support of the good people of the state is more than sufficient
He said, “The Ogieneni of Uzairue is the royal father of our clan. But, what we are beginning to see is an Ogieneni who has descended into the political arena and now wears the garb of the Ogieneni of Jattu. This is completely unacceptable”.
Deploying innuendoes to buttress his assertions while addressing his party supporters, Comrade Oshiomhole delved into history and recalled how he became governor in 2007 despite being denied audience by the Ogieneni on three different occasions.
According to him, while the Ogieneni openly fraternised and granted audience to his then rival, Prof Osunbor, he (Oshiomhole) was, however, mocked by PDP leaders such as late Bruno Oshiokpekhai who went about telling anyone who cared to listen that “Oshiomhole does not enjoy acceptance among his people.
The former labour leader then asked the crowd: “Did l not win the election?, to which he got a resounding “Yes”.
